Our Newest Dealer and Upcycling

"Upcycling" is what Amy does and creates some amazing items as displayed in her booth.  She is a new dealer at the shop.  And I loved searching thru her booth several weeks ago.  She had the neatest table and chair set......unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me at the time.  Guess what!!  Apparently a whole lot of folks liked what she had out and many of the items were sold by the time I got back with my camera, including the table and chairs!!

Nice Problem, right?!
At any rate here are just a sampling of what Amy does with her recycled or upcycled finds.

I asked Amy where she finds her materials and no surprise she said just about anywhere.  Garage Sales, second hand stores, auctions,  estate sales (sound familiar?).  Amy said she got started when she was just a kid picking up what someone threw away as trash that she thought was a treasure waiting to be made.  She said that she often visits such sites as Etsy and Summer Set Studio Magazines for inspirations.

These purses are something that my Grand Daughters would just love.  Better hurry by if you are interested!!!  Be sure to check her booth out.  It really is fun!!

A Recipe Request and a Look Back at Christmas

This is quite late but several folks wanted to know how Mara made her sausage appetizer that we had out as one of the many dishes for our Christmas Open House.  So here it is.....as Mara put it "Easy...my  kind of recipe"

Take 4 smoked sausage links and a large jar of strawberry jam or preserves.  Cut the links in slices and add to jam.  Place in crock pot to heat and melt.  These are good!!!

Just in case you did not see the pictures on Facebook, I have attached a few of the pictures from the open house. After finally getting some snow it is kind of fun to look back at some Christmas memories

Lots of hard work, late nights and sore backs!!  It was wonderful to see all our wonderful customers coming out to enjoy it all.  We even had quite a line waiting for us to open.  Super Great !!

I Really Like Home Made Gifts...Don't You?

We usually make lists for gift ideas at Christmas time for everyone.  It really makes it a lot easier for me especially when shopping for the Grand kids.

I can remember when I first went shopping for Tairen, our oldest Granddaughter.  She's just turned 21!!! in December so this was quite a while ago.  She had some toy called "Whizer"  on her list.  Well I looked all over Toys r Us thinking that it was some kind of game.  I finally found someone to help me...."Oh Yes.  That is right over here with the 100 Dalmatians section!"  Hmmmmm.  Didn't make any sense to me until he picked up this little dog that apparently.......well....whizzed on paper!!!

I laughed so had I almost had to do the same!!!!

But back to the point.  I got this cast iron muffin pan from my Son and Daughter-in-law.  I knew she had made it since it wasn't the first really neat project she has come up with.

I love pictures too so a couple years ago she combined the two with this frame

But I also  have gotten these blankets that I just love from my other daughter-in-law.  (No, no competition going on....at least I don't think so)  I am sure you have seen other blankets made of fleece.  I enjoy them because they are soft, warm, and easy to take care of.

Since these are in our Wisconsin house......I should probably ask her if  she wouldn't mind making a Packers one!!!!

A great gift is a photo album.  The many photo locations on line have made it simpler to create some awesome photo albums.  Have you tried any?  Recommend any?  I have mostly tried Ofoto.com  and recently was happy to learn that you don't have to keep track of your purchases in order for the albums you have created to remain saved.

Fortunately no one has asked me to make any of their presents.  I have a feeling it will be quite a while before the Grand kids will want anything other than tech stuff or the latest greatest toys!!!

Putting some New in the Old.

I have not been on line for a while.  Many reasons about as complicated as life is I guess but got to get going again.  So here I am.....must be a good time to start since this is the first snow we have had for the whole season!!.  We had another great Christmas Open House last November at the shop.  I hope you had the opportunity to join us.

The group met this past Tuesday to review our marketing plan for this new year.  We are looking into new ways to advertise.  We are already on line www.sandwichantiquemart.com and also on Facebook. We talked about new ways of using both of these as well as texting and tagging.  That's right...texting and tagging.

This time last year I hadn't gotten started on texting Ha!!! and certainly had no idea about tagging.  Well now I do do some texting and yes I even have created a tag for the shop.  Just created it.....have no clue if I will master how we can best use it.  But I have to admit researching all this new stuff is fun.

It really is more of an adventure.  Kind of like a scavenger hunt.  You find one fact that leads you to another, etc. etc.  This kind of learning is new since when I first got on Facebook I had to call my Grandson to see how to answer his message to me....that went something like "Grandma when did you get on Facebook".  I had no clue how to answer his message.

The other question I had for him was where is the learning manual.  After patiently waiting for him to stop laughing I found out there are no manuals.  Wow!!  Thus the scavenger hunt.  Although he did announce to me last week that there isn't anything you can't learn to do from You Tube!!  So guess where I'm going!!!!

Stay tuned to see how we do putting some new into our Antique(old) shop!!!!
